Boost Your Willpower

A great way to boost your willpower is by creating a personal rule for yourself that says "If I do X then I can reward myself with Y".  

A example would be; "If I go for a 30 minute walk every day this week then I can treat myself to an ice cream on Saturday afternoon".  If you don't go for the walk every day this week then you have to be strict with yourself and skip the ice cream on Saturday, and you shouldn't cheat!  
 
The idea is that you can make it easier to perform a behaviour that is good for you in the long run by combining it with something that feels good in the short run. Aim to set realistic rules that you can actually achieve 80% of the time, so that you don't make it impossible to succeed.
